Vectis Spurs

At our recent AGM the Chairman Dave Duffy, Membership Secretary Anita Skeggs, & Treasurer Graham Osborne, all agreed to stand for another year and it was unanimously agreed upon by a majority vote.

A new role of Vice Chairman was voted upon and Robin Tillbrook has kindly agreed to take on this post.

Anita has decided to stand down as the ticket coordinator and it was agreed that this role will be taken over by committee member Rick Pearson. You will find all of Rick’s details on the ticket request form sent to members. A great big thank you must go to Anita for carrying out this really thankless task for all these years.

Vectis Spurs pitchside at the Lane

Vectis Spurs members recently travelled to White Hart Lane to the famous home of the mighty Spurs. We were given an exclusive tour by Gary Belversham (Tours Manager) who was very knowledgeable & entertaining at the same time. He made it a very enjoyable trip.

We got to see all parts of the historical stadium. We started the tour by walking up Bill Nicholson Way and through the very old original cast iron gates of White Hart Lane into the car park. In the car park it was pointed out that all of the parking cones were blue & white (not the normal red & white, as it would be associated with the “Gooners” colours). We entered the stadium through the away teams entrance and walked down the corridors covered in photos of Spurs Legends. We entered the away team’s dressing room, the home dressing rooms which were all kitted out with the 1st team players shirts on the pegs, just like a match day. We went through the tunnel to pitch side. We sat in Harry’s seat & the subs seats, all heated of course.

We visited all of the function rooms, we saw all of the trophies and memorabilia of yesteryear. We visited the press room and sat in Harrys chair where he gives daily press conferences from. We went out into the west stand upper and sat in the executive seats including Daniel Levy’s seat, which are padded luxury seats of course. We visited the Oak room where all of the clubs directors are entertained and the blue dining chairs cost £600 each. Everything was very luxurious as you would expect. It was a very interesting & eye opening insight into the goings on behind the scenes that we would not normally get to see.

We finished off (all 17 of us) with a good Sunday lunch at the Gilpins Bell pub in Edmonton. It was then back into the mini-bus for our trip back to the coast and onto the 5pm ferry. A good time was had by all.

All Vectis Spurs members are invited to come along to the AGM. This will start at 8pm at the Camphill Social Club Newport. Have a chance to be heard about anything connected with Spurs & Vectis Spurs. You might want to stand for election of a position on the committee or just to vote for any new proposals that may arise.

IT’S YOUR CLUB, COME & HAVE A SAY IN IT!

Its this time of the year again when THFC ask all Supporters Club Branches Members to vote for their favourite players for this season.

The categories for this season are as follows:-

1. Player of the year award – For the best overall player
2. Goal of the season Award – For the scorer of the best goal
3. Spur of the Year Award – For the player who has best represented the club in effort and performance

THFC are in the process of arranging the awards presentation around the final game of the season against Birmingham City. Date & Place to be confirmed.

There will be tickets available (subject to numbers) for members to be at the presentation. At this time we are not sure about what charges (if any) Spurs will make for this event.

If you are interested in going to the presentations please state this with your nominations Email. If we are oversubscribed a ballot will be take place. THFC will restrict the number of members from each Supporters Branch.

THFC have stated that there will not be an opportunity to obtain individual photographs or any autographs, but all attendees will receive a signedgroup photograph of the award winners!

On Thursday 30th September 2010 Vectis Spurs held their AGM where in keeping with club rules the official positions of Chairman, Treasurer and Membership secretary were up for re-election. The club are happy to announce that Graham & Anita remain in their positions but that it does have a new chairman. After 17 years at the helm of this fantastic club, Colin Shaw felt the time had come to step down and give someone else the opportunity of taking Vectis Spurs forward.

Colin has been a fixture and fitting of Vectis Spurs for nearly 2 decades and has held the reins during both stormy and glorious times. He has also performed his tasks with grace and assurance. Vectis Spurs would like to take this opportunity in thanking Colin for his loyalty and service and look forward to seeing him again at the Christmas party.

We can also confirm that the new club chairman is Dave Duffy. Dave has been a member of Vectis Spurs for a number of years & a member of the committee in more recent times. Dave is keen and enthusiastic with many ideas on how to move the club forward. It was Dave’s idea to circulate the recent questionnaire in order to gauge what you the members really want, the results of which were included in the recent newsletter. We wish Dave every suceess.

Remaining on the committee for at least another year are Donald Salisbury and Craig Skeggs where they are joined by John Arnold & Mark White. Your Vectis Spurs committee pledges to serve you to the best of their ability and to continue to give you a club that you can be immensely proud of.
