Scottish right back Alan Hutton has turned down a move to Tottenham Hotspur to continue playing for his boyhood team Rangers.

A bid thought to be around £8million had been reluctantly accepted by the Rangers board but after asking for time to think it over Hutton has decided to remain in Scotland for the time being with many stating that the lure of regular Champions League football combined with his support of Rangers swayed him.

A Spurs bid for the second right back in a week following the arrival of Chris Gunter from Cardiff will only further add to speculation over the future of Pascal Chimbonda who has suffered a poor season thus far and is thought to be seen as a weak link in Spurs’ leaky defence.
