Tottenham have agreed a ?12million deal with Wigan Athletic for the transfer of powerful midfielder Wilson Palacios. Honduran international Palacios has only been at Wigan for 12 months but he has made 41 appearances in ?that time and established himself as a top Premiership midfielder with reported interest from Liverpool and Bayern Munich in recent weeks.
Palacios will have to wait for a work permit but that should be a formality for a player of his stature. Palacios was on loan at Birmingham for six months last season on the advice of Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger who had the midfielder on trial at Arsenal but decided against signing him.
Palacios’ family have hit headlines at homes in Honduras after his younger brother Edwin was kidnapped in October 2007. He has not been seen since and the identity of his kidnappers remain unknown.
