About Vectis Spurs
Vectis Spurs was formed in August 1993 and is officially registered as an affiliated branch of Tottenham Hotspur FC’s membership scheme. The Club enjoys a healthy membership with ongoing interest from various sources. It was set up, initially, to be a travel club for Island residents but now includes members from slightly further afield, particularly the south of Hampshire - there being no official supporter’s branch in the area.
Those joining Vectis Spurs who want to attend matches should register with THFC’s membership scheme, as the tickets obtained are for the members areas only. Alternatively if they prefer to make their own ticket arrangements (season ticket etc.) but would like to travel that’s fine. In addition we also have one or two members who for one reason or another do not attend games but join for the social side these are Associate (non-travelling) Members.
THFC members subscriptions for the season commence on the 1st June, existing members will automatically receive a renewal form, new members may obtain one from Anita Skeggs by ringing (01983) 292518. When your form is completed we ask that you forward it to Anita who will in turn process it and pass it on to the THFC Membership Office. Please note new Junior members are required to provide (non returnable) proof of age - e.g. copy birth certificate. We also ask that your remittance for the THFC membership be made payable to Tottenham Hotspur FC. Vectis Spurs also implements it’s own small subscription to cover the administration costs of organising trips and social events this also becomes due on 1st June and is currently ?5 for adults with juniors being exempt.
It is the Club’s intention to travel to Tottenham on as many occasions as possible within a season, we do feel the cost is reasonable, although it is always subject to the actual numbers travelling, but we do endeavour to keep the cost of both ticket and travel from the Island/Southampton to a minimum. The Club has formed a good relationship with a couple of coach companies who offer comfortable travel often with on board television and video for your entertainment. Vectis Spurs has also set up a savings scheme whereby members can pay-in to their account whatever amount they want - then draw on it for trips. Our Treasurer, Craig, issues individual monthly statements. It is a means of spreading the load and many members use the facility.
Vectis Spurs have regular monthly meetings/get togethers - usually the last Thursday of the month, the venue being Camp Hill Prison Officers Club, Camp Hill, Newport at 8.00pm. Since its formation the Club has organised various functions, including Christmas parties and summer BBQs with items of autographed memorabilia as raffle prizes often including a signed shirt and footballs. We have also arranged evenings whereby players have come to the Island to meet Club members namely Gary Mabbut, Sol Campbell and David Howells.
Vectis Spurs has in the past been granted access to Spurs Lodge to watch the players train, prior to meeting them for photographs and autographs. Members are notified throughout the year of various events that arise and we hope you will support us as well as you support Tottenham Hotspur Football Club.If you require further details or have any questions - please do not hesitate to contact any of the above people.
